William Paterson University professor Catarina Feldmann, 62, died at her home, Oct. 18 following a long battle with cancer.
Feldmann joined the English department in 1985 and served as chair from 1994 to 2000. She last taught full time in the fall 2005 before taking a partial medical leave for the spring and fall 2006 semesters. While on leave, she still came into work on a regular basis to help out with the First Year Cluster Program, which she directed.
"She was absolutely devoted to WPU and its students," said Isabel Tirado, dean of Humanities and Social Sciences.
A memorial will take place on Nov. 7 at 12:30 p.m. in the Atrium auditorium. Each attendee is encouraged to bring a flower.
"She always had fresh flowers on her desk," said Donna Perry, English department chair.
All reactions and memories from those who knew Catarina Feldmann can be submitted to The Pioneer Times for future publication.
