Any given day on campus one can easily see the vast difference of fashion amongst William Paterson University students. Each individual possesses his or her own style and either will or won't adapt to the up-to-the-minute fashion trends. Students are usually in three styles of clothing: chic clothing, casual wear or the "I don't care" look, which consists of the usual sweatpants and hoodie (bed head follows). Regardless, we perceive the percentage of those adapting to the hottest fashion trends is limited. Those that decide to take the plunge and follow current trends know that in doing so, they are taking a risk. It is either a hit or miss with recent fashion executions, and if one is not pulling the look off "the right way," it could prove disastrous.

That brings us to leggings. Very right now, very chic and very cute, though only if you can pull them off. When paired with a great oversized sweater, mini dress or tunic, leggings can be adorable, even glamorous. But when girls dress in brightly colored leggings with t-shirts or a fitted top, we definitely have a problem, a total clash even. The same follows for oversized, printed sweaters; once again, very cute and chic, but only if you know how to wear them.

We now consider shirts, shoes, bags, jewelry and even hair accessories in leopard print to "fit the bill." Leopard prints are in high demand this season and girls are going to extremes with the trend. Anything in some sort of wild animal print is "hot." We can find practically anything this season in animal prints. Ladies, remember to stay composed and limited when combining different prints. Prints were made to add or complement the outfit, not destroy it.

The 80s are definitely making a comeback between the leggings, oversized sweaters, prints and tousled hair. Yes, tousled hair is in. So, whenever someone feels like they don't want to bother with his or her hair, they don't have to; it's fashionable to leave it un-kept, or "bed-head," as it is now called.

One fashion trend that is certainly not from the 80s, but is very "right now" is black nail polish. Thanks to trend setters such as Lindsey Lohan and Keira Knightley, black, purple or dark brown polish is the quest for many girls. Black and brown nail polish looks great with virtually everything. Little fashion tip - one can never go wrong with neutral colors!

Those who continue to follow trends on campus know they are taking a risk with dissimilar peers. Following current trends could either make or break you; you are likely to be either very fashionable or just plain clueless. Credit to those who understand the precise image they are trying to convey and those who take the plunge and try out new and different things. Kudos to you!
