Dexter's is a new bar that just opened this past summer. It is located at 92 Rt. 23 North in Riverdale, approximately 20 minutes away from campus. The bar is strictly 21 and over, with an upscale yet casual dress code. Every night the bar features a disc jockey, and live bands play on stage every weekend.
Specials are always available at Dexter's; on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, $2 shots are available, along with $2 beers during happy hour, which is 3-8 p.m.
Although the weekday scene has not yet become very popular, college nights are soon to come on Tuesdays and Thursdays to attract WPU students.
"We don't really try to play to any particular group of people," said Jayne Garcia, manager of the bar. "We like to play all kinds of good music and enjoy everyone's company."
For all you football fans, Dexter's is also a great place to be on Sundays and Monday nights. Every game is at your disposal with the National Football League Sunday ticket and over 15 LCD TVs. There is also a large food selection and specials for the football games with buckets of beer, good deals on wings and free appetizers from 3-6 p.m.
You will not find a better atmosphere and will not have to worry about emptying your pockets with very fair prices on all drinks: $2.50 drafts and $5 mixed drinks.
Dexter's would also be great for those trying to get their band's name out there. Many good bands play at Dexter's including cover bands, such as Freeshotz, Screaming Nudes and the Flying Mueller Brothers.
