Ellen DeGeneres, the famous comedian, once said, "We all have one thing in common: We all love to laugh." If this is true then the upcoming Comedy Festival events at William Paterson University are worth a look.

On Nov. 29, at 8 p.m., there will be a Stand-Up Comedy Event in Shea Auditorium.

According to Jeff Heimbuch, president of the Student Film Association, this event will feature the "funniest WPU stand up comedians that we've had throughout the years in the writing for comedy class."

The comedians were chosen by the professors who have taught the course.

On Dec. 1 and 2 in the Hunziker Black Box Theater, WPU is hosting a Collegiate Stand-Up Comedy Competition.

"(This is) an event involving ours, and other local colleges and universities," said Heimbuch. "Each college picks four or five students to represent them."

He explained that comedians compete, and one from each group is chosen to go on to the next round. The following day, comedians go to head-to-head to crown their school the funniest.

On Dec. 8 and 9 there will be a Sketch Comedy Series for WPU students to perform a series of comedy sketches that they have written.
