Halloween is an exciting holiday where people can let loose and be creative. Costumes are a great outlet to express your inner self and be somebody else for a day. Or maybe you're not into that whole dress-up scene. For you, it is the decorations, activities or freaky concoctions that are exiting. You can always go on the Internet and find a myriad of ideas to make this Halloween even more fun.
This year, why not try out an old tradition, like pumpkin picking? Fairfield Farms and Greenhouses is a local spot where you can enter the pumpkin patch and pick your favorite and then participate in other fun activities, such as a family-friendly hayride. Ward's Pumpkin Patch is another place in Ridgewood where you can also find some fresh fruit and vegetables, such as summer and winter squash.
Once you get your ideal pumpkin, get some friends together and carve it. Try to challenge yourself and stay away from the typical jack-o-lantern. Find some stencils and try carving a witch, a ghost, a haunted house or even a puking pumpkin! Visit www.extremepumpkins.com for some original and imaginative ideas.
If you enjoy getting spooked to celebrate Halloween, scary movies are always fun, but why not go out and experience it? Try visiting Marlboro's C. Casola Farms Haunted Hayride of Terror, which also includes the Haunted Barn and the Haunted Wooden Trail, to satisfy your need for a scare. The ultimate package of all three attractions is only $20. If you want to take a trip to East Windsor, you can visit Field of Terror and experience their new five acre haunted walk, as well as their Haunted Hayride. If you don't mind going out to Pennsylvania, visit the Bates Motel, which is supposed to be one of the best haunted houses in America, located in Glen Mills. All of these haunted locations, among many others, can be found at www.hauntedhouse.com. This is a great way to have a night out with friends and laugh about who screams the loudest!
If you're having a party this Halloween and need a couple of ideas for treats, why not make one that doesn't involve all that candy? Try Cheese Pumpkins. Betty Crocker has the recipe for this creative little appetizer, sure to satisfy all of the cheese lovers out there.
