It could be argued that this one place that everyone knows is the most integral part of William Paterson University. If this one entity of the University is not accessible to students, by law the University is forced to make accommodations for them. What prestigious place am I referring to? Wayne Hall of course!
As you open the door to the cafeteria, you will encounter the sweet aroma of fresh baked apple pie mixed with the scent of hot macaroni. Walking up the steps allows the patron to detect the hot, freshly made pizza that this great establishment has to offer. If it's your first time here, the combination of all these eclectic aromas in the air will tantalize your nostrils while a smile unconsciously appears on your face.
Your first option in this buffet-esque setting is the Main Event. On today's Main Event menu there are mashed potatoes, eggplant cheese bake, Chinese pepper pork, peas, cauliflower and baby carrots, turkey with gravy and baked potatoes. I went with the Chinese pepper pork, with a side of mashed potatoes covered with gravy, and a slice of turkey on the side. As the attendant places the food on my plate, I say thank you. Walking away, I stare at my plate cautiously, because from past personal experiences I have learned that if you eat the food at Wayne Hall, you might be missing in action for 30 to 45 minutes after you leave. I have been reassured by the Head Chef, Larry Newton, that this is a thing of the past. He could be lying, and for my sake, I hope he is not.
It is obvious that courteousness, kindness and hospitality are preached within this facility as soon as you open their front doors. With the plethora of smiles I received by the ladies who work there, I don't know if they were being friendly or flirting; but I'll pick the latter.
So now I'm done with my meal and my plate is empty.
"Hmmm," I think to myself, "maybe this food has improved from last year. " I cautiously attempt to get up, rising from my chair in slow increments so as not to disrupt the digestive process that's going on in my stomach. To a pleasant surprise of mine - I felt good. I guess Larry wasn't lying.
Wayne Hall Upgrades
When asked about the additions to Wayne Hall, besides the construction, Robert Lewis was quick to point out the upgraded deli, the made-to-order Lite Line. This year, Wayne Hall is introducing a series of specials and promotions to students who come to Wayne Hall to eat. He also said that the facility's workers strive to give each individual who comes to eat at Wayne Hall that home-cooked feeling and atmosphere
