There has been plenty of mourning surrounding the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame this season- thanks to their first 1-6 start in 119 years.

Despite earning their first victory against UCLA, 20-6, through their first seven games, they have been outscored 199 to 80, averaging 11.4 points per game.

Notre Dame is ranked 115 of 119 in total offense and has managed just 1,353 total yards.

The main reason for their lackluster stats has been an unproductiv offense, lead by their offensive line, wich has allowed 29 sacks, the most in college football.

Another reason is the loss of stand out quarterback Brady Quinn, along with 16 other starters. Many inexperianced players have been forced to into the starting line up.

Quarterback Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame's heralded blue chip recruit, has not lived up to his expectations, often looking uncomfortable on the field. He has thrown forjust 635 yards, one touchdown and five interceptions thus far.

Although the season has been disappointing, the Irish can still salvage their season. Fans may experience victories against lesser opponents Navy, Air Force, Duke and Stanford, that the Irish will play late in the season

The Irish do need to find a way to "Wake Up the Echo's" some time this season while they continue to search for an identity.
