In his power point presentation: "Hey! What Happened to my teeth? And everything else about dreams you didn't know to ask", Dream Interpreter Greg Hoeflicker explained to WPU students the meaning behind puzzling dreams.
"Dreams are a powerful tool for you to use," said Hoeflicker, who studied at the School of Metaphysics in the Midwest.
Hoeflicker explained that dreams are about the dreamer, and your dreams reflect things that happened on the previous day. Every person and place, apart of your dream, is apart of you. Hoeflicker broke down the basic dynamics of a dream, by pin pointing what each symbol represents.
Let's take for example, that frightening dream about your teeth falling out. Hoeflicker stated that teeth are a tool for chewing food, which provides nourishment for the body. When your teeth fall out in your dream, your ability to get nourishment is lost. Hoeflicker stated that this dream is triggered by a previous lack of understanding of something in your life.
Common dreams, like being chased, falling from high ground and flying, all have universal meanings that can be interpreted and understood. Hoeflicker stated that if you are being chased in a dream, you are being chased by a problem or a responsibility you have not taken care of. If your conscious mind can understand what your subconscious is trying to tell you, then you can face your problems and the chasing can stop.
"What your dreams are, are messages to help you to become more self aware," said Hoeflicker.
Hoeflicker also discussed the "Déjà vu" phenomenon as a precognitive dream, and visualization as way of achieving goals.
Hoeflicker later received a sea of questions from the audience. A common dream among audience members included the presence of other people in their dreams. Hoeflicker explained that the presence of another person in a dream represents making that person's dominant quality apart of you. Dreams, Hoeflicker reminded, are always about the dreamer.
So, the next you find yourself in a dream where you are running away from someone, Hoeflicker advised to try and stop and face your fear, if you can of course. You can find more information on Hoeflicker and his interpretations at dreamprograms.com.
