These shows' current seasons stopped production a few months ago because of the writer's strike, and are finally coming back with four to six new episodes, which cuts down on the usual number of episodes per season. Nevertheless, fans are anxious to see how these programs will continue and finish their seasons.
"The Office" is in the second half of its fourth season and started airing new episodes April 10. NBC ordered a full fourth season in 2007 consisting of 25 full episodes, but after eight episodes were filmed, production was suspended due to the writer's strike. "The Office" left off with Pam and Jim finally getting together, though they fail to keep their relationship a secret. Jan has moved in with Michael after losing her job and is suing Dunder Mifflin over her wrongful termination and Michael's financial troubles force him to briefly take a second job in telemarketing. So what can we expect throughout this season? Will Pam and Jim's relationship stay a success? And will Jan get her job back while Michael figures out his debt?
Many William Paterson students enjoy "The Office," but one student in particular enjoys the aspect of improvisation that Steve Carell uses in the filming.
" 'The Office' is ridiculously hilarious because of Steve Carell," says Bob Spirig, senior accounting major. "In one episode, Michael kissed Oscar; I read online that Carell totally improvised that kiss. Now knowing that scene was totally improvised, it makes the show much more enjoyable because I never know what to expect."
The season will end as originally scheduled with six or seven new episodes, resulting in a shortened season of 14 or 15 episodes.
"Grey's Anatomy" is also in the middle of its fourth season and will return with five new episodes beginning April 24. During production of season four, former "Dawson's Creek" cast member Joshua Jackson was scheduled to make an appearance as a doctor in multiple episodes; Jackson's appearance was canceled due to the writer's strike. "Grey's Anatomy" left off with Meredith ending her relationship with Derek because of his kiss with Rose. Although their relationship wasn't official, Meredith says that she cannot trust him. Shonda Rhimes, creator of the show, has hinted in interviews that Meredith and Derek will eventually be together for good. Will we have a future "Grey's" wedding to look forward to?
