It's been 20 years since Bonnie Bentley has seen her old campus that is William Paterson University. At the time it was called William Paterson College, and she recalls her time spent there as good, but she has moved on to happier times.

"Words can't describe how much pleasure I get by being able to help people and expose them to the things I do" she said. "Pleasure is relief."

Bentley, 43, currently works at Pleasant Road Spa in Hoboken where she has treated her customers with aromatherapy for the past six years. Her main focus is being a Reiki Master.

"A Reiki Master has the ability to transfer Reiki to any other human being. It's our birthright to be able to heel ourselves," she said. "A session can last 15 minutes or many hours, however long it takes."

For the past nine years she practiced Reiki, claiming it can heal in spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical ways. Physical is always the last step in the healing process. Another technique she performs is called Raindrop Therapy that usually takes 30 minutes.

"Raindrop Therapy is a series of oils along the spinal cord. It releases toxins from your body, most toxins lie dormant in the spinal area," she said.

You can always find a handful of different oils in her purse and she can tell you what each one contains and the way it acts as a remedy. She also carries around with her a thick book that acts as a "how it's used, how it works" encyclopedia of essential oils. She referred to it as her bible.

"I tend to give small bottles away to people so they can use it in their home, kind of like a sampler," she said. "It also makes for a great gift. I give away bottles to friends and family during holidays and birthdays, I give them all specific oils that will tend to their problems."

Some of the problems she mentioned are snoring habits, headaches, and joint pains. The majority of oils have a good scent to them and some can even be digested, such as peppermint that can be dropped into your drinking water, and that will help kill hunger cravings.

"It's funny how many nonbelievers there are. After they experience it they go 'wow'," said Bentley. "It really is an experience and you shouldn't knock it unless you've tried it firsthand."

She spends about two hours in the bathtub, substituting oils for bubbles and lights a few candles as her way of relaxing and alleviating the stress. Or she spends her time creating her own oil fragrances.

"I believe in fate and that you are put here to do certain things in life and mine was to do this," she said. "Over the past year I've become so consumed with oils that they seem to run and own my life, but I'm content with that."
