An unnamed alumnus donated a gift of $1 million the Christos M. Cotsakos College of Business in effort to expand post-graduate studies.

The donation will start the development of additional MBA concentration programs. The Shier Entrepreneurship Program as it will be called will help the University launch higher-education geared for entrepreneurship studies.

Although the donor does not wish to get public recognition they would like to take part developing a culture in entrepreneurship. Aside from donating the financial necessity for the program the donor plans to donate their time and expertise. The donor plans to lecture, mentor, and tutor students in week long sponsored events in the upcoming year.

Students and faculties are extremely thankful for the abundance of opportunities as these will open doors for them.

"It is great that our school is receiving such a huge amount of money. It will definitely help improve the quality of our school and bring it to newer heights," said Pinar Ili, a junior finance major.

"This transformational gift will help William Paterson University achieve status as a national leader in entrepreneurial education," said President Arnold Speert in an earlier press release "The Shier Entrepreneurship Program is a great fit for the university in terms of our current business curriculum and the overall direction of the university. It will provide an opportunity for our students to develop the skills necessary for a sustained competitive advantage in business."

The funding will also aid the recruitment of an executive director. Credentials must meet strong background in entrepreneurship as it will help aid them as a liaison between the college and the business community.

By adding these new programs the University plans to increased enrolments for post-graduate programs. Currently the school offers 18 programs but plans to reach out for business oriented students, who currently only have three post-graduate concentration program available to them.

"I wasn't considering planning to return to school but if they would have a program that is in my area of business interest, I would definitely look into it," said Carmen Guillen, a recent graduate of WPU.

"There is a strong need for a comprehensive entrepreneurship program that will lead to the development of future generations of entrepreneurs in our region," says Sam Basu, dean of the Cotsakos College of Business in a recent press release. "Our educational goal is to provide pragmatic, relevant, and rigorous education to our students, and the addition of the study of entrepreneurship creates synergy with other innovative programs at the Cotsakos College of Business."
