Students on campus in January saw the last girders lifted to the top of the Science Hall's new wing. More recently floors took shape. And the new construction touches the outside of the building.

Steve Bolyai, vice president for administration and finance at William Paterson said, the Science Hall is being expanded and renovated. The expansion, he said, should be completed in late 2010. He added that there will be a combination of new labs, classroom space, and faculty research facilities in the new wing, which will be open for use by students and faculty at that time.

The renovation phase will begin after the expansion is completed and upgrades will be made throughout the entire building, according to Bolyai.

This second phase of the project is expected to be finished sometime in 2011. The funding for these improvements was secured before this year's financial troubles, and those funds are independent of WPU's operating budget, Bolyai said.
