Student Services: Lack of Service

With the spring semester rolling in, students prepared themselves for new classes. Along with this, they prepared themselves for new money issues.

For the first two weeks of the semester students have been dealing with a constant issue that I like to call, "The Battle of the Last Nerve." This is a game played by Financial Aid and Student Services to see who can make students lose their cool first. They give students the run-around to find out how much money they owe, what information they're missing, if their loans are sufficient and what they have to do to stay in school.
This semester has been the worst students have seen thus far. The lines for both offices have been out the door and the patience of both faculty and students have run short. Now there is the situation of "The Blame Game." Financial Aid blames Student Services and vice versa.
"I'm convinced neither department knows what they're doing. Financial Aid says one thing but Student Services says another. All I want to do is move into my dorm and re-register for class," said an anonymous student.

There have been a number of other students who have made the same complaints.

"Financial Aid says I have a previous balance which is the reason why I can't move on campus. I'm trying not to lose my temper but commuting three hours by bus is becoming overbearing," a WPU sophomore said.
Hearing students complain is only half of the story. Trying to get someone in Financial Aid and Student Services to answer these questions has been as hard as pulling teeth. The only answers you will receive are "it was an honest mistake," "they're working to resolve student issues," or you'll simply get no answer at all.
